A Superior Denture Processing Method Ensures a Superior Fit
Denture acrylic undergoes a 7% shrinkage during processing, greatly affecting the proper fit of
the denture. Yesterday's technology attempted to correct this problem by triple packing
the denture under hydraulic compression. Although this method was employed for years, it actually
failed to adequately address the problem.
In our in-house denture lab, Panhandle Dental uses the newer, more precise technology and equipment
of the Ivoclar SR-Ivocap System™. Through the use of controlled heat/pressure
polymerization, this revolutionary process allows the laboratory to compensate for shrinkage by
pressure feeding additional denture acrylic into the mold during processing. The technique thus
insures higher quality finished prosthetics that have excellent physical and clinical
characteristics which include fewer office visits, less discomfort, and faster adjustment time
for the patient.
